Sistemas electorales y crecimiento económico

Electoral systems and economic growth
Authors: Ruiz Pérez, Fernando;

Sistemas electorales y crecimiento económico

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This work has a demostration of how the economist can contribute to the analysis of political institutions and his economic consequences. We analyze a political institution, the electoral system, and its effects on the political and economic stability of Spain We have also simulated, with the available data, the effects of other posible electoral systems to analyze how goverments and policies might have changed compared to our current system. We conclude that our system has harmed some national parties in favor of some of a nationalist nature, which have been the key to forming governments with negative effects on the efficiency in the distribution of powers between administrations and on the long term stability of policies, including economic ones.
