The presence of nanostructured carbon compounds has been studied by means of Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and luminescence techniques, in a sample of natural origin, which had its formation process in a plant zone located in a drainage basin, funding carbon quantum dots. This study was carried out on the supernatant obtained from the sample as it had been previously digested with a weak acid and centrifuged. Before centrifugation, a part of the sample was decanted, which turned out to be composed mainly of quartz in an X-ray diffraction study. This last technique was also applied to the deposited part of the diffraction, obtaining results compatible with the presence of quartz, graphite and clay.
