Abstract

It may be considered the Crime of Fuencarral Street, which was happened in 1888, as the reason for the interest increase for this type of press. The analysis of the illustrated press, before and after this crime, will allow us to know how the events information evolved and realize if that incident was the beginning of sensationalism press in Spain.
