Infrastructure planning and borehole drilling for brine extraction

Abstract

The exploitation of the mineral salt deposit in the form of brine in Polanco is carried out by soundings, by the system of chambers and pillars. The chamber is formed by the solution generated by an injection of water and the extraction of brine in them. The starting point for this type of exploitation is the borehole drilling. In this end-of-degree project, are planned both the infrastructure and the stages for the drilling of three boreholes, which are within a predetermined distribution mesh in the field of drilling. Initially, an analysis is carried out to determine the type of soundings most favorable to drill (vertical boreholes or deviated boreholes), in this case deviated. Once the type of sounding has been selected, and from a single location, its location and the deviated structure of the wells is drawn, which must meet a series of premises: the maximum allowed deviation, the verticality of the well in the exploitation, the planned ceiling of the salt, etc. Once the site is located, all the infrastructure is planned prior to the drilling: accesses, construction of the drilling base and cellars, all connections to the water and brine network, and electrical and communications power supplies. The latter are focused on their use in the future exploitation of soundings. In the second part of this work, the telescopic configuration of the well is designed, detailing the drilling diameter, depth, type and characteristics of the columns to be installed, tubing, cementation, etc., also incorporating the plan of the auxiliary tasks that are carried out during a drilling of these characteristics. Likewise, a budget evaluation of the cost of all stages will be carried out, from the construction phase of the site to partial restoration of the natural space at the end of the drilling.
