Certificaciones medioambientales en España: ISO 14001

Abstract

ABSTRACT: From the environmental laws point of view in Spain, as well as the growing, as well as the sustainability increasing and natural environment respect about public opinión, added to the echausted competitiveness of the globalized market, we must consider from the business point of view, if certification represents a valid tool to differentiate and contribute to success. In this research, I will carry out an approach to environmental certifications in Spain, showing the reasons why it is essential for the organizaton sustainability, that an independent third entity, accredits al interested sections (administrations, customers, invertors, etc.), that the acticivities develoment is carried out accomplish with the establiced enviromental legal framework. The ojective of the work is to publicize the different options for environmental management systems and certifications, as well as the agencies involved, so that they have plenty knowledge to create their own judgement. In consecuense, it could be decided if it compensates to certify or not, which certifications are more accurate to the business activity, which environmental management system suits you, or what steps it should be taken to implement it among other issues. After that, basic concepts such as what is a certification and who certifies, what is a management system, as well as the most important regulatory agencies and the entities qualified to accredit in national territory, will be explained. Also, the different types of certifications will be presented, paying attention to environmental certifications and their types. I will go deeper on the two most important environmental management systems in Spain, making a comparación between them, developing theis characteristics, evolution, objectives, requirements and implementation processes, estructure, barriers and benefits of their incorporation into the plan of the organization, and integration with other certifications.
