Abstract

El estudio de la regeneración en ratones es una puerta para la comprensión de las bases de la regeneración epimórfica. Existen diversos factores que están involucrados en este proceso como puede ser la uña o la cascada de señalización Wnt. Estos factores permiten la formación de un blastema, un conjunto de células indiferenciadas, pero con destino restringido, y cuya función es llevar a cabo la regeneración. En este trabajo, se intenta dilucidar si la uña es realmente un componente necesario para que se produzca la regeneración de la punta del dedo en ratones. Para este propósito se han utilizado ratones que carecen de los potenciadores específicos de extremidad para Lmx1b, llamados mutantes LARM1/2, y que por tanto se caracterizan por un fenotipo doble ventral en las extremidades. En estos ratones se ha podido observar que no hay regeneración tras la amputación de la punta del dedo. Sin embargo, todavía se requieren estudios más exhaustivos para conocer componentes, a parte de la uña, que no se desarrollan en los sujetos LARM1/2 y que podrían estar involucrados en la regeneración. Este hallazgo nos permite seguir avanzando en esta dirección con el objetivo de conocer exhaustivamente los componentes de la regeneración y de esta manera poder extrapolarlo a regiones no regenerativas, con el objetivo final de desarrollar tratamientos para patologías caracterizadas por pérdidas de tejido.
