Abstract

RESUMEN: Objetivo: Analizar la posible relación entre dolor de hombro y fatiga de los rotadores externos en nadadores competitivos. Método: Se reclutan 16 nadadores activos, 12 varones y 4 mujeres, con una edad media de 19,36 años. De ellos, 8 nadadores con dolor en ambos hombros forman el grupo casos y los otros 8 nadadores sanos son el grupo control. La fatiga se mide en ambos hombros mediante la realización de rotaciones internas y externas en decúbito supino, a máxima velocidad, a lo largo de un minuto que se fracciona en cuatro tiempos para el análisis. Los datos son registrados por un acelerómetro situado en la muñeca de los sujetos y analizados posteriormente mediante un análisis de la varianza con mediciones repetidas a través del programa SPSS, partiendo de un nivel de significancia de 0,05). Discusión: A la vista de los resultados, aceptamos la hipótesis nula de que no existen diferencias en la fatiga de rotadores externos entre los nadadores con dolor de hombro y los nadadores del grupo control. No obstante, entre las limitaciones del estudio debemos destacar el escaso tamaño muestral que nos impide tener suficiente potencia como para detectar una diferencia si la hubiera, por lo que entendemos que deben realizarse más estudios con un mayor reclutamiento.

ABSTRACT: Objective: To analyze the potential relationship between shoulder pain and external rotator fatigue in competitive swimmers. Method: 16 active swimmers are recruited, 12 men and 4 women, with a mean age of 19.36 years. Out of these, 8 swimmers with pain in both shoulders form the case group and the other 8 healthy swimmers are the control group. Fatigue is measured in both shoulders by performing internal and external rotations in supine position, at maximum speed, over a minute that is divided into four time intervals for analysis. The data is recorded by an accelerometer placed on the wrist of the subjects and analyzed later by an analysis of the variance with repeated measurements through the SPSS program, starting from a level of significance of 0.05). Discussion: In view of the results, we accept the null hypothesis that there are no differences in external rotator fatigue between shoulder pain swimmers and swimmers in the control group. However, among the limitations of the study we must highlight the small sample size that prevents us from having enough power to detect a difference if there is one, so we understand that more studies should be done with a greater recruitment.
