Abstract

ABSTRACT: Introduction: The Cerebral palsy (CP) is a major health problem causing severe disability in childhood, the gait and balance being frequent dysfunctions, whose alteration interferes in the quality of life of these children, as well as in the performance of normal activities. Purpose: The aim of this systematic review is to provide information through research in the current literature on methods of treatment for gait and balance and the effect of such treatment in children and adolescents with cerebral palsy. Methods: Randomized controlled trials were searched in Medline and Cochrane. One reviewer assessed the quality of studies using the methodological evaluation scale PEDro. Results: Eight trials met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, with variable methodological quality, sample size and age of the participants but with homogeneity in the population studied. Conclusions: Although most of the studies are feasible for them repeated thanks to its methodology, it cannot be a real generalization of the results even though several of them showed benefits for the patients, they do not have a significant statistical power, as there was not an indication of one method over another for this pathology.
