Adherencia al tratamiento antirretroviral de gran actividad. Un metaanálisis

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Through a systematic review, which includes three meta-analyses formed by 101 observational studies, this thesis addresses adherence to highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). Its aims are to estimate the overage percentage of people claiming to adhere to ≥ 90% prescribed HAART, and to identify the variables associated with such adherence. The results obtained are: 1 / Adherence to HAART is assessed mainly with a single method, being the self-report the most commonly method used. 2 / The average percentage of people in the world that claims to take ≥ 90% of prescribed HAART is 62%, in Spain that average percentage is 55%. In women this percentage is lower (62%) than in men (67%), although no significant differences are obtained. 3 / The variables that modulate adherence vary from region to region, and according to gender.
