ABSTRACT In this TFG it is studied the Vandals’ presence in the Roman Empire, paying specially attention to the first invasion’s step, with the foundation of the Vandal Kingdom by Genseric. After crossing the Rhine (406), wandered in Gaul between this year and 409, when they went across the Pyrenees and established in Spain. Their stay in the Iberian Peninsula lasted no more than twenty years, when they went to Africa crossing the Strait of Gibraltar. After finding no defiance, they conquered Hippo in august 430 and Carthage nine years after. Both in the Strait’s crossing and the later conquests, they were led by Genseric, king between 428 and 477. During Genseric’s kingdom, the Vandals controlled North Africa and some overseas possessions like Balearic Islands and Sardinia, being a continuous headache for the Roman Empire, getting to even sack Rome in 455.
