RESUMEN: La igualdad entre hombres y mujeres como una realidad cierta debería ser algo incuestionable en la sociedad de hoy en día. Sin embargo, hay muchos ámbitos en que la existencia de dicha igualdad no se lleva a efecto y sobretodo en el terreno laboral. Un claro ejemplo de esta desigualdad se produce a la hora de percibir una retribución distinta por igual trabajo realizado, constituyendo lo que se denomina Brecha salarial. Este presente trabajo tiene como finalidad determinar su existencia o no dentro del mercado laboral en dos ámbitos territoriales, España y Cantabria. Primero, se ofrece una visión general de dicho mercado a través de los datos proporcionados por la Encuesta de Población Activa y Encuesta de la Estructura Salarial proporcionados por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y el Observatorio Ocupacional del Servicio Público Estatal. Mediante el análisis de los datos se calcula el ratio de brecha salarial, lo que permitió verificar su existencia. Finalmente, se plantean cuáles son las causas que la generan; y por último, cuáles son las medidas a adoptar para erradicar este problema
ABSTRACT: Equality between men and women should be something unquestionable in today's society. However, there are many areas in which the existence of such equality is not carried out and above all in the labour field. A clear example of this inequality occurs when it comes to receiving a different remuneration for equal work done, constituting what is called the wage gap. This work aims to determine if wage gap existences in the labour market in two different territorial areas, our country -Spain- and our region -Cantabria-. Firstly, an overview of the Spanish labour market is given through the data provided by the Spanish Survey of Active Population (SSAP) and Survey of the Salary Structure (SSS). These surveys are supplied by the Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE) and the Occupational Observatory of the Spanish Public Service. Secondly, the data were used to calculate the wage gap coefficient, which allowed to corroborate their existence. Finally, we talk about the causes that generate it; to conclude at the end with potential measures to eradicate this problem.
