RESUMEN: En el presente trabajo se trata de explicar las circunstancias que explican la situación del sector hotelero en la actualidad además de la realización de un análisis económico y financiero que corrobore esta situación. Para ello lo que hemos hecho es centrarnos en los años 2012 y 2013 como horizonte temporal debido a la imposibilidad de obtener datos de años posteriores. El trabajo se estructuraría de la siguiente manera: En primer lugar es importante hacer constancia de porqué el turismo se ha consolidado como motor de la economía española haciendo especial interés a la comparación entre el PIB turístico con el PIB nacional, explicando la contribución del turismo a la creación de puestos de trabajo y analizando el gasto que tienen en nuestro país los viajeros de los principales mercados emisores. En segundo lugar conoceremos las características del sector hotelero español. Distinguiremos las preferencias del turista en relación al alojamiento turístico elegido y conoceremos el perfil del turista que viaja a España y elige alojamientos hoteleros. Haciendo especial interés en su procedencia, en el número de pernoctaciones realizadas y en la elección según categoría de alojamiento hotelero elegido. En tercer lugar realizaremos un análisis económico y financiero del sector hotelero con una muestra de 70 empresas del sector y como ejemplo analizaremos la situación de una de las cadenas hoteleras que más notoriedad tiene entre las empresas del sector hotelero. Por último es importante conocer las conclusiones que tendríamos acerca del trabajo realizado con el objetivo de poder pronosticar el futuro de la industria hotelera española.

ABSTRACT: The present work explains the situation of the hotel sector and the economic and financial analysis of the hotel sector too. We have chosen the years 2012 and 2013 as period of time due to the difficulty of obtaining information of later years. The work has the following parts: Firstly it is important to know why the tourism is the principal engine of the Spanish economy comparing the tourist PIB with the national PIB and explaining the contribution of the tourism for the creation of working places. In addition we will analyze the expense that the travelers of the principal markets have in our country. Secondly we will know the characteristics of the hotel Spanish sector. We will distinguish the preferences of the tourist in relation with the type of accommodation chosen and we will know the profile of tourists that traveling to Spain and choose the hotel accommodation. We have to make interest in the origin of tourists, in the number of overnights, and the choice of tourist accommodation according to the category. Thirdly we will realize an economic and financial analysis of the hotel sector with a sample of 70 companies of the sector and as an example we will analyze the situation of one of the hotel chains that more reputation could have between the companies of the hotel sector. Finally it is important to know the conclusions that we would have in relation with the work realized with the only aim to know the future of the hotel industry better.
