This project addresses the problems identified in the rural areas of the municipality of Socha in relation to the provision of drinking water services and supply, and the configuration of the state's non-compliance in this regard. The purpose of this research is to determine the present and derived causes of the problem, the consequences, and the level of satisfaction of the community in relation to this conflict. The method used was the case study, and the techniques used were the semi-structured interview and documentary analysis, and the instrument for the collection of information was the tape recording. As a result, it was obtained that the main causes are attributed to first the whole process related to the exploitation of the mines, which in this municipality is considered a high demand for this activity, and second the bad practices and poor management of chemical fertilizers in the soils derived from the different agricultural activities, as consequences especially defined as health affectations (diseases) triggered by the consumption of contaminated water and the environmental deterioration of the environmental resources, above all, the water sources. The level of satisfaction of the inhabitants of rural areas with the water and sewage services is acceptable; however, improvements are needed in the water supply, especially in the quality of this resource.
