Los factores de riesgo laborales

Abstract

Según la Organización Internacional del Trabajo- OIT, el origen de las enfermedades laborares está relacionado con la exposición a factores de riesgo de tipo ergonómico, físico, químico, biológico y psicosocial. Los criterios utilizados para calificar el origen de las enfermedades laborales, incluyen que exista una relación causal entre la enfermedad y un agente, una exposición o un proceso de trabajo específico, que la enfermedad ocurra en relación con el ambiente de trabajo y que haya evidencia científica de un patrón bien definido de la enfermedad tras la exposición y verosimilitud de la causa.1 Algunos de estos factores han logrado una mayor atención de los ocupacionalistas en la última década, tales como el tema del riesgo biomecánico y los desórdenes músculo esqueléticos, que constituyen las enfermedades laborales que con mayor frecuencia se diagnostican; el tema de la enfermedad cardiovascular por su alta morbi mortalidad y sus posibles implicaciones en la empresa tanto a nivel de origen como de consecuencias y el tema del riesgo psicosocial.
