La infraestructura vial es de vital importancia en el desarrollo y crecimiento de un país, mueve la economía y vincula las regiones aisladas. Con este documento se pretende hacer un diagnóstico de la infraestructura vial actual en Colombia mostrando el estado de las vías y los proyectos que se encuentran en desarrollo en este momento y los proyectos futuros que el gobierno tiene en estudio. Además se presentan datos del transporte de carga y de pasajeros en la infraestructura vial y como inciden en la evolución de la economía y competitividad de las regiones. Por otra parte, se muestran aspectos generales técnicos, económicos y políticos y la forma en que interactúan en el progreso del país. Dentro de este documento también se realiza un proyecto de Infraestructura Vial a manera de ejemplo práctico, académico y didáctico, donde se utilizan herramientas que existen para la gestión de proyectos, siguiendo todas las etapas de implementación para la evaluación y medición.
