Abstract

The health model is described as the set of principles, values, and strategies that guide the way a society understands, protects, and promotes the health of its inhabitants. This model must ensure access to comprehensive and high-quality health care. Therefore, this monograph focuses on the Department of Vichada with the purpose of analyzing the current situation that affects the rights and duties of individuals, as well as the associated factors such as the demographic transition of a society in the process of modernization, multiculturalism with increasing mortality and birth rates, the epidemiological transition of communicable diseases, the rise of chronic noncommunicable diseases, unmet basic needs, unemployment rates, unhealthy habits, the health and education systems, and the impact of the armed conflict recorded in recent decades—factors that are directly affecting the health of the population in the Department of Vichada. Consequently, the graduate students of the Master’s in Health Administration at Universidad EAN, during the year 2025, center their monograph on the following research question: How to design a territorial and intercultural health model for the Department of Vichada that adapts to the particularities of the territory and population diversity, in order to ensure equity, community participation, and cultural relevance in health promotion, prevention, and care actions? The research is structured under a mixed-methods approach, of a descriptive and explanatory type, integrating the quantitative analysis of health determinants and outcomes with the qualitative interpretation of perceptions, practices, and local knowledge within the communities of the territory.
