RESUMEN Este trabajo, pretende, a partir de la situación política actual, argumentar sobre la necesaria transformación de la democracia representativa hacia un incremento progresivo de la participación ciudadana, para llegar a lo que se conoce como democracia participativa. Se analizan las múltiples ventajas que supone acercar la democracia a los ciudadanos, aunque también se ven las dificultades que deben afrontarse, y el intenso debate que existe al respecto, teniendo en cuenta algunos de los autores más influyentes. En la segunda parte, se presentan cuatro casos de participación ciudadana y los analizaremos críticamente aportando ideas para una mejor implementación y evolución del tema. ABSTRACT This study divided in two articles, aims to, from the current political situation; argue about the necessary transformation of representative democracy to a progressive increase citizen participation to reach what we call participatory democracy. We will discuss the many advantages of bringing democracy to the citizens, but also see the difficulties must be faced, and the large existing debate, giving voices to some of the most influential authors. In the second part, we will look four cases of citizen participation and do a critically analyze with contributing ideas for their better implementation and evolution.
