Abstract

Plastic has become a fundamental material in everyday life, thanks to its versatility and usefulness. Since it was invented at the beginning of the 20th century, its production has not stopped growing, due to its properties as it is resistant, light, flexible and economical. These advantages have facilitated its use in various areas, such as the automotive industry, construction, medicine and, above all, in the packaging and distribution of products. However, the success of plastic has also brought with it one of the most serious environmental problems of our time: since it is not biodegradable, a large amount of the plastic we discard ends up accumulating in landfills, seas and other ecosystems, where it can take centuries to decompose. One of the most worrying types of plastic is the one used in the manufacture of bottles and disposable containers, especially beverage bottles. Due to their massive use and short life cycle, these bottles accumulate quickly in the environment, representing an important part of the plastic waste that damages the planet. According to the above, our project aims to design a plastic shredding plant in the municipality of Duitama in the department of Boyacá, with the use of Civil 3D software, as well as the development of an E-commerce page, in order to facilitate trade for reuse or transformation into new products. The plastic material will be collected through reverse vending machines (RVM) and through a strategic alliance with the recyclers of the municipality, thus contributing to environmental sustainability and circular economy.
