El trabajo informal y las plataformas geolocalizadas

Abstract

This research analyzes the evolution of the impact that digital platforms for transportation services, delivery, parcel delivery, among others, have had on informal employment in the city of Bogotá. It investigates how these innovations have influenced the increase in informal employment since the COVID-19 crisis. A non-experimental design with a quantitative approach was used, focusing on measuring and estimating the magnitude of informality on geolocated platforms. It was found that these technology providers have significantly increased the level of informality in Bogotá by providing flexibility and income opportunities in the face of a lack of opportunities in the labor market. The results obtained from this research suggest that these platforms provide temporary sources of employment, but it is essential for the state to develop regulations that protect and guarantee the rights of informal workers, reducing the gap and promoting a more inclusive economy.
