Abstract

Los Asistentes Digitales Personales nacieron como un concepto novedoso para la época, el cual prometía ser un dispositivo referente en la organización y comunicación; el primer exponente de este cambio fue el Apple Newton, sin embargo, no logró posicionarse en el mercado como se esperaba. Esta investigación contiene una breve revisión de literatura relacionada con los asistentes personales digitales disponibles en el mercado de la última década del siglo XX, revisión que presenta una descripción de las características de estos dispositivos y de las funcionalidades que ofrecían los diferentes jugadores del mercado. Posteriormente, se buscará analizar las oportunidades que tuvo Apple con respecto al desarrollo y lanzamiento del Apple Newton; y como este fracaso determino las bases para el desarrollo de otros asistentes personales con mejores funcionalidades y tecnologías posteriores que aún hoy en día se emplean en diferentes campos. The digital personal assistant was born as a new concept by its time, it could be a referent dispositive in the organization and communication of the people. It was the first table called Apple Newton however, it could not be in the principal places of the market as Apple was waiting for. This research has a short literature revision related to digital personal assistants in the market by the XX century. This research presents a simple description of the main features of those kinds of tools and about the main functions that all these machines offer to the customers. Add to this, the research has an analysis of the opportunities that Apple company had referred to the development and the launch of Apple Newton and how its failure determines the main bases of other tablets with better functions and technology.
