Abstract

The objective of this work is to analyze the environmental and economic impact of the use of sustainable energy alternatives versus conventional energy in two health institutions in the city of Ibagué. This analysis is carried out through a descriptive approach with a method of documentary review of consumption data energy and the monetary value canceled by the electric service in each institution reference, in order to present a comparison on the benefits presented between a health institution that has an alternate system of sustainable energy and one with the use of traditional energy obtained through hydroelectric plants, coal plants among others. The results show the reduction of the carbon footprint and the economic value canceled by the electricity canceled by the reference institution that has a system of sustainable energy generation compared to reference institution two which it has traditional energy. It is concluded that the use of renewable alternatives for energy production generates a reduction in costs, as well as a decrease in impact environmental generated by the institution since it allows reducing consumption by 20% energy of the institution as it is a producer of energy through a sustainable environment and alternative.
