Abstract

Interdisciplinarity is a pedagogical strategy that involves the interaction of different disciplines, in dialogue and collaboration, to achieve new knowledge. It has gained significant educational relevance in the last thirty years due to the inability of specialized disciplines to provide answers to real-world problems and the lack of student motivation. This study aims to investigate the perception of the teaching staff at the Eduardo Santos Educational Institution in Medellín regarding interdisciplinarity and the role of physical education within it. Four teachers from the institution were interviewed, and a content analysis was conducted. It was observed that there is a significant overlap between the consulted sources regarding the concepts and phenomena that influence the optimal implementation of this methodology, and it is emphasized that as educators, one must overcome the barriers that arise in order to effectively apply this methodology. Keywords: Interdisciplinarity, education, teacher perception, physical education.
