Projecte Talent Esportiu Osona

Abstract

Paraules clau: Projecte TEO; Rendiment esportiu; Lesions Esportives.

Sports performance can be positively or negatively influenced by multiple factors. The general objective of this study was to improve the understanding of the performance of the athletes participating in the Osona Sports Talent Project (Projecte TEO). Sixteen athletes linked to the Projecte TEO participated in this study. Mostly, they were female (75%), with an average age of 16.31 years old (SD=3.47). We collected information on their performance in physical tests and had to answer to a questionnaire created to collect information about previous injuries and variables potentially associated with injuries. The findings show that the participants’ performance seems adequate in the physical tests and that male athletes obtain better results. The majority (56%) report suffering an injury in the last two years, most of which (87%) were recurrent. None of the athletes participated in programs of stress control. The majority (88%) of athletes claimed to have reduced the injuries they had previously suffered. The data collected in this study can now be used to help prevent injuries and increase the performance of athletes. Key Words: Projecte TEO; Sports Performance, Sports Injuries.
