Abstract

Dyspareunia is defined as pain felt during sexual intercourse. It is the most frequent sexual complaint among gynecologists. It considerably affects the quality of life of these women. Today, many discoveries have been made in the world of perineal physiotherapy. It would seem that this may play an important role in the treatment of these pains. Demonstrate the role of physiotherapy in this area looking for the benefits that this can have in the treatment of dyspareunia. Using the PubMed and PEDro databases, we made a selection of articles according to inclusion and exclusion criteria in order to carry out the bibliographic review. Of the 52 articles submitted, only 6 were chosen for our review. It would appear that pain following the physiotherapy interventions used is reduced or eliminated. However, it would seem that the effects of the interventions are not the same depending on the type of dyspareunia. In addition, physical therapy would improve sexual function. Perineal physiotherapy seems to be non-negligible means of treatment in patients suffering from dyspareunia. More specific studies are needed to confirm this.
