Abstract

Introduction: Pressure ulcers currently represent an important health problem. In addition to the high economic cost to the National Health System, pressure ulcers have a negative impact on both the person who suffers them and their caregiver. There is evidence that most of them can be prevented by applying the right measures. There are few studies aimed at informal caregivers that deal with the prevention of these diseases, which is why we propose to carry out this study. Objective: The main objective is to study the effectiveness of an educational intervention for the prevention of pressure ulcers on the level of knowledge, overload and quality of life of informal caregivers of elderly people with grade III dependency. Methodology: A quasi-experimental analytical study will be carried out, specifically a pre-post study with a single experimental group, at the C.A.P. el Remei. The study population is informal caregivers of elderly people with grade III dependency who meet the inclusion criteria. The programme is structured in 5 sessions once a week. Inputs: The aim is to assess the effects and benefits of caregiver education. It can bring about a change in the quality of life of caregivers, enhancing their knowledge and skills.
