La funcionalidad en el trastorno bipolar

Abstract

Los déficits en la funcionalidad se pueden presentar en los episodios sintomáticos y durante la eutimia en los pacientes con trastorno bipolar (TB). Algunos estudios han indicado que el deterioro cognitivo, el número de hospitalizaciones, los síntomas depresivos, maniacos y residuales podrían tener un impacto en la funcionalidad. El objetivo de este estudio es analizar la funcionalidad y las variables que podrían estar asociadas. La muestra incluye 9 pacientes con un diagnóstico de Trastorno Bipolar. Los resultados se obtuvieron a través de Functioning Assessment Short Test (FAST) para evaluar la funcionalidad, el Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) para valorar la sintomatología depresiva, el Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS) para medir los síntomas maniacos y finalmente para evaluar el rendimiento neurocognitivo se administró el Screen for Cognitive Impairment Psychiatry (SCIP). Asimismo, se recogieron los datos sociodemográficos y el número de hospitalizaciones. A partir de los resultados obtenidos, el hallazgo principal es que el deterioro cognitivo tiene un impacto en la funcionalidad en los pacientes que presentan TB.
