I made the first implementation and wrote the original MVC reports while I was a visiting scientist at Xerox Palo Alto Research Laboratory (PARC) in 1978/79. MVC was conceived as a general solution to the problem of users controlling a large and complex data set. This document contains a scan of the two original MVC reports dated 12 May and 10 December 1979.
