En rettshistorisk komparasjon av trolldomsprosessene i Mora (1669) og Rendalen (1670-74)

Abstract

Denne oppgaven handler om trolldomsprosessene som fant sted i Mora (1669) og i Rendalen (1670-74). Under disse trolldomsprosessene stod forestillinger om heksesabbaten på Blåkulla sentralt, og i begge områdene hadde prosessene sin bakgrunn i barns fortellinger og anklager. Formålet har vært å forklare hvorfor disse prosessene fikk så ulike utfall, til tross for flere likheter, og jeg har i denne sammenhengen valgt et rettshistorisk perspektiv. Jeg har utført en komparativ undersøkelse av den rettslige behandlingen av disse to prosessene, og sett nærmere på forholdet mellom lokale, regionale og sentrale domstoler. Jeg har konkludert med at den rettslige behandling uten tvil hadde mye å si for utfallet av disse to trolldomsprosessene, men at flere faktorer – som allmuens rolle i lokalsamfunnet og den personlige faktor – nødvendigvis må tas hensyn til når utfallet skal forklares.
