Hva er kommunikasjon?

Abstract

Order kommunikasjon stammer fra det latinske ordet communicare, som betyr å dele eller å gjøre noe felles eller kjent. Når vi deler noe, for eksempel informasjon, mening eller kunnskap, gjør vi det per definisjon med andre mennesker. Kommunikasjon i politiarbeid dreier seg derfor om relasjoner og samhandling, både politikollegaer seg imellom og mellom politiet og publikum eller offentligheten. Vårt perspektiv legger til grunn at politiet bør ha en dialogisk og relasjonell tilnærming til kommunikasjon (f.eks. Linell, 2009; Rommetveit, 2008) i operativt politiarbeid. Dette kapittelet beskriver de grunnleggende elementene i en slik dialogisk tilnærming. Politiet trenger å forstå, analysere og samhandle med publikum i mange forskjellige kommunikasjonssituasjoner. Figur 5.1 illustrerer fire kjernebegreper i vårt dialogiske relasjonsperspektiv på kommunikasjon: tegn, kommunikasjonshandlinger, relasjonsprosesser og kontekst. Denne enkle figuren vil kunne være et hjelpemiddel i de mange møtene med publikum så vel som en «guide» til resten av kapittelet. Dette er en akseptert versjon av et kapittel fra boken "Kommunikasjon og konflikthåndtering i operativt politiarbeid: Sosialpsykologiske perspektiver". © 2017 Universitetsforlaget
