Abstract

This trial evaluates the effect of two bacterial formulations on the yield and morphological quality of the fruits of a watermelon crop. We used two watermelon varieties, one as the main variety, Red Jasper, and the other as the pollinator variety, Gatiño. We used a randomised block design, with three treatments and four replicates and border plants. Culture was carried out in greenhouses, creepers and with the use of a localized irrigation system. At harvest time, parameter data was collected to assess yield (kg/m2), weight of each fruit, perimeter measurement, diameter of the pistillate scar, shell thickness, pulp firmness, total soluble solid content (oBrix), pH measurement and pulp colour measurement (L/a/b). The results were analysed and no significant differences were found.
