La enfermería y el triaje

Abstract

Introduction: Both hospital and out-of-hospital emergency services need triage as an instrument to address excess demand through pentapolar or tetrapolar systems. Objective: to analyze the effectiveness of triage and the role of nursing in this. Identify the demand for nurses versus those for other workers. Methodology and design: it is a narrative review in which a search has been made in the databases of PubMed, SciELO, Cochrane and take care. The MeSH terms used were "nursing", "triage", "disaster", "emergency". Results and discussion: we selected 10 articles from the 1918 that were found and analyzed triage and the role of nursing. The effectiveness of triage is analyzed for the scarce resources and saturation of the emergency service and the role of nursing in it. Conclusiones: the choice of a valid triage system improves the activity of the emergency service since it optimizes resources by making a correct classification by nursing profesional.
