The term “mobbing” migrated to European countries from Scandinabiain the early 1990s. It has been recently studied in Colombia as aninterpretation of the persistent, offensive, abusive, intimidating, maliciousor insulting behavior and the abuse of power which makes the personfeel upset, threatened, humiliated or vulnerable. It undermines their self-confidence and causes them anxiety. In order to contribute to theprevention and constructive management of this problem, this articleprovides information related to it's causes and consequences and alsosuggest some ideas about prevention in organizational and individuallevels.
Proveniente de los países escandinavos, el término de acoso laboral omobbing llegó a Europa en los años 90. En Colombia ha sido estudiadorecientemente como una interpretación de la conducta insultante,maliciosa, ofensiva, intimidatoria, abusiva del poder y persistente, quehace sentir a la persona burlada, humillada o vulnerable y que socava suauto estima y le causa ansiedad. Para contribuir a la prevención y elmanejo constructivo del tema, en este artículo se pone a disposición delos psicólogos las causas y consecuencias del fenómeno, se sugiere ideaspara la prevención a nivel organizacional e individual.
