Televisión con cultura / cultura con televisión

Abstract

The need to valuate shows with a “cultural intentionality” has become evident, particularly regarding those intended to be offered by public television, according to the objectives projected with respect to both their structure and the unpredicted consequences deriving from their application. Likewise, people responsible for program planning should take into consideration the results of any such researches. In most cases examined, the analyzers coincide in noticing a lack of shows with real cultural contents, this added to the poor originality of the existing ones. Most viewers have expressed their dissatisfaction with regard to current TV programming. Many of them actually prefer options with a cultural content; but eventually, due to the little appeal of those available, or because the ones expected to be particularly interesting cannot be seen at prime time hours but too late at night, at dawn or very early in the morning, they admit ending up watching entertainment shows.
