La definición del concepto de identidad ha sufrido fuertes transformaciones a través de la historia dado el carácter del concepto mismo que depende de quien se define y, por tanto, de las dinámicas culturales en las que se encuentra inmerso. En este marco, se propone una exploración de la variación histórica del concepto. La transformación que sufre una identidad ‘porosa’ premoderna, con la desvinculación y la subjetivización del yo, resulta en un ‘blindaje’ que marca las coordenadas de la identidad moderna. Esta identidad, que se configura desde la interioridad y está absuelta del influjo de las fuerzas externas, se erige como mito moderno. Sin embargo, la fragmentación propia de la modernidad tardía, ofrece nuevas porosidades que redefinen la identidad misma. Por ello, se cuestiona el mito moderno del blindaje al considerar nuevas dinámicas culturales, como la reivindicación de las minorías, los mass media o el rock, que ponen en jaque el ideal de la identidad moderna, auténtica y exclusiva.

The definition of identity has undergone major transformations through history given the nature of the concept itself that depends who defined, and therefore, of cultural dynamics in which it is immersed. In this context, an exploration of the historical variation of the concept is proposed. The transformation undergone a ‘porous’ identity pre-modern, with the untying and subjectification of self, resulting in a ‘shielding’ that marks the coordinates of the modern identity. This identity, which is configured from the interiority, and this acquitted of the influence of external forces, it stands as a modern myth. However, own fragmentation of late modernity, offers new porosities that redefine the very identity. Therefore, the modern myth of the shielding is questioned when considering new cultural dynamics as the claims of minorities, the media or rock, that challenge the idea of modern, authentic and exclusive identity.
