Masculinidades y feminismo

Abstract

Los debates en torno a la masculinidad y la creación de ­grupos de hombres, han carecido hasta ahora de una revisión crítica sobre su verdadero alcance transformador. En ­Masculinidades y feminismo, se cuestiona la noción, a priori positiva, de nuevas masculinidades. Por lo general, estas se componen de adultos heterosexuales, de clase media blanca y con núcleos familiares heteronormativos que, a menudo, excluye a las masculinidades homosexuales, afeminadas, trans*, menores o adolescentes, migrantes, personas mayores o mujeres masculinas. En la práctica, nos encontramos ante grupos autoreferenciales que enfatizan cada vez más la propia identidad masculina, en lugar de ahondar en las relaciones de poder o el diálogo con el feminismo. Esto muestra cómo el hombre sigue viéndose y mirándose como principio y fin, superhéroe en el campo de la lucha por la igualdad. Asimismo, la ficción entre nueva y vieja masculinidad, sustituye a la comprensión del desarrollo histórico de la dominación patriarcal por una difusa división generacional. La supuesta e insuficiente asunción de roles en campos como la paternidad o las tareas domésticas, oculta la profunda desigualdad de género existente en lo social, y el hecho de que los hombres seguimos monopolizando los espacios de socialización, sin renunciar a nuestros privilegios en el trabajo, los movimientos sociales, etc. La pregunta es si se puede acabar con la desigualdad sin acabar también con la masculinidad y, por lo tanto, si esta debe reformarse, transformarse o abolirse.
