Monitorización intraoperatoria del nervio facial en las cirugía de parótida

Abstract

[ES] Los tumores de la glándula parótida son una patología poco común. El procedimiento quirúrgico para su extirpación conlleva un riesgo alto de lesión del nervio facial, lo que puede resultar en una parálisis facial postoperatoria. Dada la repercusión estética y funcional que dicha secuela conlleva, los beneficios asociados a su prevención mediante las técnicas de monitorización intraoperatoria del nervio facial (MINF) están en continuo debate en la comunidad científica. El objetivo principal de esta revisión sistemática es estudiar la aplicación de la monitorización intraoperatoria del nervio facial en las cirugías de parótida. La mayoría de los resultados obtenidos sugieren que MINF tiene un papel beneficioso en la disminución de la tasa de parálisis facial transitoria postoperatoria. En cuanto a la disminución de la tasa de parálisis facial permanente y otras posibles aplicaciones de la MINF, los estudios muestran resultados contradictorios. En conclusión, la MINF es beneficiosa para prevenir el daño iatrogénico del nervio facial y disminuir la tasa de incidencia de parálisis facial postoperatoria, especialmente la de carácter transitorio. No obstante, se requieren más estudios de investigación para determinar el papel que la MINF debería desempeñar en un futuro en las cirugías de parótida.
