[EN] The objective of this work is to analyse the European Pillar of Social Rights, jointly proclaimed by the Council of the European Union, the European Commission and the European Parliament on 17 November 2017 at the Gothenburg Social Summit for Fair Jobs and Growth and, in particular, its contribution to the fight for gender equality. On this basis, this research will, in the first place, briefly outline the current state of the gender issue within the European Union. Secondly, it will consider the connection between the Pillar and the gender dimension in the European legal order, tracing the history of EU gender equality policies. Thirdly, it will reflect the validity of the Pillar as a supranational policy response to the financial crisis on the European social dimension, and in particular, on gender equality. Lastly, it has drawn up a brief summary of the main EU policies’ gender approaches, aiming to illustrate the thesis defended.
