[EN] The main objective of this work is to demonstrate the advantages of surgery on eloquent areas with an awake patient, when the lesion is settled in or near these areas, achieving a greater resection and an increase in survival, reducing neurological deficits as much as possible and preserving quality of life. Also expose this procedure as an effective technique for brain anatomical-functional research and study of the mechanisms of brain plasticity. For this, a bibliographic review and a study of 3 cases with lesions close to the Visual Word Form Area (VWFA) have been completed.
