Volumen de entrenamiento como variable principal para la hipertrofia muscular

Abstract

El objetivo de esta revisión bibliográfica es determinar cuál es el volumen de entrenamiento idóneo, en cuanto a series realizadas por grupo muscular a la semana se refiere, para maximizar las ganancias de masa muscular en sujetos entrenados. La búsqueda bibliográfica se realizó en 4 bases de datos (PubMed, ResearchGate, Dialnet y Scopus) hacia febrero de 2019. Se analizaron 658 estudios, de los que se incluyeron 15, ya que cumplían los siguientes criterios de inclusión: (a) las intervenciones deben tener una duración mínima de 6 semanas, (b) los estudios deben ser ensayos controlados que comparen diferentes grupos, o bien revisiones sistemáticas, (e) los estudios deben comparar el número total de series por semana/ o por ejercicio, (d) los sujetos deben tener como mínimo 1 año de experiencia en el entrenamiento de fuerza, (e) se deben realizar mediciones directas o indirectas para valorar los resultados de HP muscular, y (f) los sujetos deben estar libres de lesiones durante 1 año previo al estudio. Los resultados muestran la necesidad de realizar futuros estudios para determinar los umbrales máximos (MRV) en sujetos entrenados.
