Abstract

[EU] Lan honen helburua literatura zientifikoan delituak eragindako beldurra gisa izendatua izan den fenomenoaren garapen teoriko eta operazionalari laguntzea/ekarpena egitea da. Hain zuzen ere, konstruktoaren definizio bat eta ikerketa eremu honetan egon diren arazo metodologikoak gainditzeko lagungarri izan litezkeen operazionalizazioak proposatzen dira. Bilboko hiritarren lagin adierazgarria erabiliz, objetiboki segurua den hiri batean eta testuinguru geografiko eta kultural zehatz batean, eguneroko bizitzan delituak eragindako beldur esperientzien prebalentzia aztertzen da. Beldur hauen garrantzia eta proposatutako operazionalizazio neurrien baliagarritasuna eztabaidatzen dira.

[EN] The aim of this paper is to contribute to the theoretical and operational development of the phenomenon known in the scientific literature as the fear of crime. Specifically, a definition of the construct and operationalizations that could help solving methodological problems commonly present in this research area are proposed. Using a representative sample of the residents in Bilbao (Basque Country) the prevalence of fear of crime episodes in an objectively secure city, in a concrete geographic and cultural context is analyzed. The relevance of these fears and the usefulness of the proposed measures is discussed.
