Alternativas operacionales en tecnologías de oxidación avanzada para el tratamiento de efluentes de alta carga contaminante

Abstract

La célula de combustible de membrana polimérica puede constituir uno de los elementos clave para la materialización de un sistema energético basado en el hidrógeno como vector energético. Pero estos dispositivos electroquímicos aún se enfrentan a una serie de limitaciones que influyen negativamente en su funcionamiento fiable y correcto. Por esta razón, el objetivo global ha sido aportar un conocimiento adicional para el desarrollo de dichas células. Para ello, en esta tesis doctoral se ha estudiado la influencia de las diferentes variables de operación, el estado físico-químico de la membrana polimérica, el prensado de los electrodos, las técnicas de preparación del MEA, la estabilidad del sistema y el análisis de respuestas transitorias o inestables mediante un modelo de gestión de la humedad, con el fin de incidir en algunos aspectos limitantes de su desarrollo comercial y contribuir así a la implantación comercial de células de combustible. El análisis y la modelización de los fenómenos de electromigración a través de membranas poliméricas ha permitido la mejora de los procesos electroquímicos globales, controlando la deshidratación en la zona del ánodo durante la operación. Por otra parte, la rehidratación de la membrana durante la operación y la movilidad del agua se mejoran con el uso de membranas modificadas con sílice ya que confieren al sistema mejores propiedades, mayor conductividad iónica a bajas humedades y reduce el efecto del arrastre electro-osmótico.
