Anamorphose d'une voix: "entendre la Berma"

Abstract

Au moyen d’une analyse phonostylistique de deux passages concernant la voix de la Berma dans A l’ombre des jeunes filles en fleurs et Le côté de Guermantes, dans cette contribution on montre que les remarques du narrateur concernant la prosodie sont liées à une réflexion plus large sur le corps de la comédienne. Proust propose ainsi une synthèse singulière entre l’action de voir et celle d’entendre la célèbre actrice de la Recherche. De même, en jouant sur la polysémie de certains termes comme « timbre » ou « intonation », le narrateur est capable - au cours de sa deuxième audition - de contempler une véritable transsubstantiation de la voix de la Berma : l’oralité devient par conséquent l’instrument d’une investigation qui se situe au cœur de l’esthétique proustienne.
