Within the context of the Dictionary for the pastoral and social care of migrants this voice deals with the concept of discrimination. After defining the different forms of discriminations, the Author examines its causes distinguishing: socio-biographical factors, legal factors, structural factors and relational factors. In the final part, the contribution describes some initiatives adopted, in particular by the European Union, to combat discrimination.
