Colon capsule endoscopy

Abstract

PillCam Colon Capsule Endoscopy represents an innovative non-invasive, painless, swallowed "colonoscope" that is able to explore the colon without requiring sedation and air insufflation. Despite being already available in Europe as well as in other countries, its clinical indications as well as reporting and work-up of detected findings have not been standardized yet. Aim of this review was to summarize its clinical indications as well as the preliminary results of the available studies.
