Contradictory Forces: The Situation of Roma People in Italy

Abstract

The situation of Roma in Italy is evolving with different actors involved, both institutions and civil society. The present chapter aims at addressing the Roma issue in Italy with a specific focus on the National Strategy for the inclusion of Roma, Sinti and Caminanti communities, wich represents a turning point in the way of addressing this specific issue. Nonetheless, many problems remain and Roma still live in conditions of social, economic anc cultural exclusion.
