Abstract

Objective: 1) To evaluate the association between Visual Impairments and Patient-Reported Visual Disability at Different Stages of Cataract Surgery. 2) To evaluate the contrast sensitivity (CS) and visual acuity (VA) impact on stereopsis. Methods: A cohort of 137 patients with bilateral cataract (BC) was assessed before and after first and second eye surgery. Partial correlation coefficients (PCC) and linear regression models were calculated.Outcomes: (1) In patients with BC visual disability was associated with VA (PCC= -0.30). After first and second eye surgery visual disability was more strongly associated with stereopsis (PCC= -0.26 first and -0.51 second) (2) VA and CS had a higher impact on stereopsis in BC. VA had a higher impact after first and CS after second eye. Conclusions: Visual disability in patients with lower visual level is better identified by stereopsis and CS. In cases with better visual level VA is better indicator.
