Sin embargo, existe poca investigación sobre la efectividad de los productos consolidantes y hay una variabilidad en los métodos utilizados. Algunos trabajos emplean resinas acrílicas como Paraloid® B72, mientras que otros evalúan consolidantes inorgánicos como la hidroxiapatita, pero hay pocos estudios publicados. Esta tesis doctoral se centra en evaluar la eficacia de diferentes consolidantes en huesos del período Pleistoceno, considerando sus características y problemas específicos. Se seleccionaron muestras del Barranc de la Boella para las evaluaciones. Se utilizó la metodología de la diagenesis ósea para caracterizar las propiedades fisicoquímicas y determinar la necesidad de consolidación. Se evaluaron diferentes consolidantes como Acril® 33, Paraloid® B72, Nanorestore®, CaLoSil® y hidrogenofosfato de diamonio. Se estudiaron cambios en propiedades como porosidad, capacidad de penetración y propiedades mecánicas, así como los componentes formados después de la consolidación

However, there is little research on the effectiveness of consolidating products and there is variability in the methods used. Some studies use acrylic resins like Paraloid® B72, while others evaluate inorganic consolidants like hydroxyapatite, but there are few published studies. This doctoral thesis focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of different consolidants on bones from the Pleistocene period, considering their specific characteristics and issues. Samples from Barranc de la Boella were selected for the evaluations. The bone diagenesis methodology was used to characterize the physicochemical properties and determine the need for consolidation. Different consolidants such as Acril® 33, Paraloid® B72, Nanorestore®, CaLoSil®, and diammonium hydrogenphosphate were evaluated. Changes in properties such as porosity, penetration capacity, and mechanical properties were studied, as well as the components formed after consolidation.

La consolidació d'ossos arqueològics i paleontològics és crucial per preservar la seva estabilitat estructural i facilitar la seva investigació i exhibició. No obstant això, hi ha poca investigació sobre l'efectivitat dels productes consolidants i hi ha una variabilitat en els mètodes utilitzats. Alguns treballs fan servir resines acríliques com Paraloid® B72, mentre que d'altres avaluen consolidants inorgànics com la hidroxiapatita, però hi ha pocs estudis publicats. Aquesta tesi doctoral es centra en avaluar l'eficàcia de diferents consolidants en ossos del període Pleistocè, considerant les seves característiques i problemes específics. Es van seleccionar mostres del Barranc de la Boella per a les avaluacions. Es va utilitzar la metodologia de la diagènesi òssia per caracteritzar les propietats físico-químiques i determinar la necessitat de consolidació. Es van avaluar diferents consolidants com Acril® 33, Paraloid® B72, Nanorestore®, CaLoSil® i hidrogenofosfat de diamoni. Es van estudiar canvis en propietats com la porositat, capacitat de penetració i propietats mecàniques, així com els components formats després de la consolidació.
