¿Trayectorias de clase o trayectorias de género?

Abstract

The thesis analyzes the role played by gender inequalities in the processes linked to the reproduction of the class structure. The theoretical framework of the thesis assumes:- That reproductive work and productive work are linked.- The study of social mobility should be done through the analysis of social trajectories. The thesis analyzes the data from the "International project on class structure, biography and class consciousness" lead by Erik Olin Wright with information about 6,632 individuals in the Spanish case. The data analysis confirms the importance of gender in the reproduction of the class structure:- Men and women follow different patterns of social mobility (inter-generational, intra-generational and marital mobility).- Men are the main benefactors from structural mobility.- The role of gender inequalities in the social reproduction takes place through the paths that men and women use in order to achieve their final positions.
