Abstract

Numerosos estudios han demostrado que los implantes dentales (ID) representan una terapia alternativa predecible para el tratamiento de pacientes parcial o completamente desdentados a largo plazo, presentando tasas de éxito y supervivencia superiores al 97%. Sin embargo, no solo es primordial el conseguir elevadas tasas de supervivencia y una mínima pérdida ósea crestal, sino que la obtención de resultados estéticos y biológicos esta cobrando cada vez más importancia. En los últimos años se han desarrollado diferentes diseños de ID y pilares, así como protocolos quirúrgicos y restaurativos con el objetivo de mejorar no solo la osteointegración de los ID, sino también la estabilidad de los tejidos periimplantarios a largo plazo. Centrándonos en el papel que podría desempeñar el efecto del macro-diseño del pilar en el establecimiento y mantenimiento de los tejidos blandos periimplantarios, se llevó a cabo el presente estudio clínico experimental, paralelo, controlado, aleatorizado y a simple ciego para aportar nuevos datos acerca de la influencia del macro-diseño de pilares en los cambios horizontales, verticales y volumétricos del tejido blando periimplantario, así como su efecto en el remodelado óseo, en ID con cambio de plataforma a los 6 meses de su colocación.
