Enseñanza/aprendizaje de algunas construcciones basadas en los verbos soporte hacer, dar y tener en E/LE Elaboración de material didáctico destinado a aprendices macedonio

Abstract

The objective of this research project consists in developing methodological guidelines for teaching certain Spanish light verbs constructions, as well as designing a didactic material that deals with these constructions in a more explicit manner, in order to improve the collocational competence of Macedonian students. To reach this goal, we firstly describe the theoretical approaches on which this work is based: the Lexicon-Grammar of M. Gross (1981, 1990) and the Meaning-to-Text Theory of I. Mel’čuk (1997). The first theoretical approach introduces the concept of light verb, and the second one defines the light verb as part of a collocation. After presenting the lexical, semantic and syntactic properties of light verb constructions, our dissertation details the characteristics of teaching collocations as part of the lexical component. The key concepts regarding lexical acquisition are clarified and the importance of teaching collocations is highlighted. In addition, we present reviews of both the diverse methodological proposals and the work related to teaching collocations. Before developing the didactic material destined for Macedonian students, we carried out a diagnostic evaluation of their level of knowledge about light verb constructions with hacer “to do”, tener “to have”, and dar “to give”, without these having been previously introduced in class. The analysis of the results shows the difficulties faced by the Macedonian students, and allows defining the aspects requiring a more in depth treatment. After having detected the elements that need more accuracy and attention, we elaborated two didactic units that favor the systematic learning of light verb constructions. The development of these units has involved the linguistic principles related to the light verb constructions, the various methodological perspectives and the results obtained from analyzing the evaluation. Finally, we would like to emphasize that this thesis is a very innovative contribution, given that, to the best of our knowledge, it is the first research work focused on the learning of Spanish as a foreign language by Macedonian students.
